Windhoek, 08 February – Keeping with tradition, Telecom Namibia honored its long serving employees for remarkable years of service during a breakfast session held at a local hotel on Thursday. A total of 19 staff members received their Long Service Certificates for 30, 35 and 40 years of service, with another 17 employees honoured in absentia.

Congratulating the long serving employees at the event, Telecom Namibia Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Stanley Shanapinda said, “You were one of the first generations that build the new Namibia thus you definitely are TN legends as you were there during the transitioning period from pre to post Independence until Telecom Namibia was established in 1992”.

Dr. Shanapinda reminisced about the progress of the landline service from answering the telephone booth in the street to receiving calls in the comfort of your home on landlines as well as mobile phones. “As pioneers, your dedication laid the groundwork for TN's access to modern technologies and advancements. We stand here today in gratitude for your enduring contributions. While challenges remain, your legacy inspires us to continue building a brighter future for generations to come. A better Telecom Namibia awaits all of us which we will pass on to our children,” he continued.

Telecom Namibia strives to be the employer of choice and thus awarded each recipient with a Long Service Award certificate, inclusive of a cash bonus. The cash bonus is traditionally received during the period the recipient reached his/her year of service milestone.

To sum it up, a collective total of 1 180 years’ worth of long service was honoured at the breakfast event.
