WINDHOEK, NAMIBIA – 15 May 2026 – The Governor of the Ohangwena Region, Hon. Kadiva Diana Hamutumwa, paid a courtesy visit on 15 May 2026 to the leadership of PowerCom and Telecom Namibia, where she met with Dr. Stanley Shanapinda, Telecom Namibia Chief Executive Officer, Mr Set-son Shifidi, PowerCom Vice Chairperson and Mr. Beatus Amadhila, PowerCom Chief Executive Officer, as well as members of management and the executive teams.

The visit provided an important platform to discuss the connectivity challenges facing the Ohangwena Region, with the Governor emphasising the critical role that reliable telecommunications infrastructure plays in driving social and economic development. She highlighted the importance of improved connectivity in unlocking opportunities across key sectors, including education, business, and public services.

During the engagement, both PowerCom and Telecom Namibia shared insights into ongoing and planned capital infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing network coverage and service delivery in the region. PowerCom outlined its efforts to expand network reach through the deployment of additional telecommunications towers, while Telecom Namibia highlighted its role in delivering services and improving access to connectivity.

Telecom Namibia CEO, Dr. Stanley Shanapinda, also highlighted initiatives focused on connecting schools within the region, underscoring the organisation’s commitment to supporting digital inclusion and enabling access to learning opportunities through technology.

The discussion further explored opportunities for collaboration and partnership, with all parties reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening connectivity and ensuring that communities in the Ohangwena Region are well-positioned to benefit from Namibia’s growing digital economy.
