Windhoek, Namibia – May 9, 2025 –Telecom Namibia is pleased to announce the complete restoration of its satellite connectivity, marking a significant step forward in ensuring reliable service delivery to its VSAT customers. This achievement follows the satellite outage on October 19, 2024, which impacted the Intelsat 33e satellite.

As of March 14, 2025, Telecom Namibia has achieved 100% capacity restoration to its satellite feed, enabling the full resumption of SATLINK services on its VSAT platform. Dedicated technical teams across the country are actively engaged in reconnecting the remaining affected VSAT customers, with the final connections currently underway.

This successful restoration is a testament to Telecom Namibia's swift and collaborative efforts with its international partners. Within three weeks of the initial satellite failure, alternative connectivity with limited capacity was established, restoring services to 50% of the affected customer base. Through continued dedication and infrastructure preparations completed by January 19, 2025, Telecom Namibia secured the additional capacity needed to address all remaining affected customers.

Telecom Namibia understands the importance of reliable connectivity and appreciates the patience and understanding of its customers during the satellite service restoration. The company remains dedicated to providing updates and support throughout this process.

Customers with any queries regarding the SATLINK service restoration are encouraged to contact Telecom Namibia’s Customer Contact Centre at 11000.
